The Jospong Group of Companies has intervened to secure the release of Paul Adom-Otchere, the former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), after he failed to meet initial bail conditions set by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
The OSP confirmed in a social media statement that it had accepted revised bail terms proposed by Adom-Otchere’s legal team, with the Jospong Group acting as surety. The new conditions reportedly fulfill the objectives of the original bail requirements, which had demanded two landed properties registered in his name—a condition Adom-Otchere could not meet, as he claimed not to own any such property in Ghana.
Adom-Otchere was initially detained after being charged alongside two others—Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah of GACL and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea of Devnest Systems—over a controversial revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private firm linked to Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML). The OSP is investigating potential procurement breaches, including allegations that the contract was sole-sourced without full board approval. While his co-accused were granted bail, Adom-Otchere remained in custody until the Jospong Group stepped in.
Following his release, Adom-Otchere was seen leaving the OSP’s office in the company of former Attorney General Godfred Dame and his legal team. However, reports indicate he has been recalled to complete administrative procedures.
The case remains under active investigation, though the OSP has not provided a timeline for further action. The involvement of the Jospong Group, a major Ghanaian conglomerate with media interests including Metro TV—where Adom-Otchere hosts Good Evening Ghana—adds a notable dimension to the unfolding case.
