Health Minister Kwabena Akandoh Faces Scrutiny
Ghana’s Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, now faces severe public scrutiny after pleasantries with Ralph Williams.

This criticism follows a controversial meeting with Ralph Williams, a man accused of causing a disturbance and allegedly assaulting a nurse at Ridge Hospital. Consequently, a section of the public vehemently disagrees with the minister’s attested warm gesture towards the accused individual.
Public Backlash Over Minister’s Gesture
Initially, the public outcry began after images and reports circulated showing the Health Minister engaging in a notably friendly manner with Williams. Many citizens and healthcare professionals expressed immediate outrage online. They argued that such a gesture undermines the severity of the alleged assault and shows disregard for the safety and respect of nurses.
Minister Akandoh’s Firm Rebuttal
However, Minister Akandoh promptly addressed the growing controversy in a press conference. “I am obligated as a Minister of State to show compassion to all citizens, regardless of their circumstances,” he stated firmly. “Even if the courts sentence a person to life imprisonment, I would still feel compelled to offer a kind gesture” he said.

A Vow to Remain Undeterred
Ultimately, the Minister emphasized that no distraction would deter him from carrying out his duties within the ministry. He reinforced his commitment to his role while defending his actions as part of his broader responsibilities. Nevertheless, this incident has sparked a significant debate on the boundaries of ministerial conduct and public perception.
