The former president of the Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has commended the electoral process in Ghana.
The former president has visited Ghana to observe its electoral process.

Goodluck Jonathan serves as leader of West African Elders Forum (WAEF) and the ECOWAS observations mission to Ghana.
The former president with his entourage visited some polling stations. The leader of the observation mission, Goodluck Jonathan was impressed so far with the electoral proceedings so far.

He also expressed optimism about the transparency, fairness and success of the elections.
Goodluck Jonathan revealed that his team had earlier engaged major stakeholder in the elections. The National Election Security Taskforce led by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in particular was engaged in talks by the election observation team.
Speaking to the media present, Goodluck Jonathan said “We are very hopeful that the politicians will maintain peace and we have not heard of any untoward behaviour even from the voters or from other people and so we only pray that this is maintained throughout the day, but it is too early to make a concluding statement.”

“We are here to see that there are no crises and if there are issues, we will join the stakeholders in resolving those issues. We were here earlier and met with the National Election Security Taskforce led by the IGP, the Electoral Commission, political parties and CSOs and concerns were raised and all those issues were addressed, and we believe those issues have been addressed.”
