The Ghana Ministry of Health has announced additional measures to address the disruptions caused by the ongoing strike by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA).

In a press release, the Ministry emphasized its commitment to resolving the impasse over the new Conditions of Service through negotiations while ensuring minimal disruption to healthcare services. The strike has created significant gaps in the healthcare system, prompting the Ministry to take urgent steps to mitigate the impact on the public.

To alleviate the strain on healthcare delivery, the Ministry has urged the public to continue seeking medical care at facilities where nursing services remain available. A list of operational health facilities has been provided, including quasi-private and CHAG-affiliated institutions, to guide citizens in accessing uninterrupted care. The Ministry reassured the public of its dedication to maintaining a healthy population, a cornerstone of national development, despite the challenges posed by the strike.

The press release, signed by Isaac Ofei Baah, Head of the Public Relations Unit, underscores the government’s efforts to balance labor negotiations with the urgent need to safeguard public health.

While the strike highlights unresolved grievances within the nursing sector, the Ministry’s proactive measures aim to ensure that Ghanaians can still access essential healthcare services during this period.

The situation remains fluid, with hopes for a swift resolution to restore full healthcare operations across the country.
