John Abdulai Jinapor, the member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu constituency has hinted that Ghana is likely to face power crisis soon.

The MP spoke to a Joy News reporter during the Inauguration ceremony for President John Dramani Mahama at the Independence Square.

The MP revealed that Ghana has about 5 hours to exhaust its current fuel that power generators. Mr. Jinapor who served on the Government’s Transition team espoused that his side of the team inquired from the outgoing government the levels of fuel for the generators. He said the NPP administration gave assurance that there was enough to last for a considerable time. But the reality of the matter as they assumed power was that the country has just few hours to run out of fuel.

He said “I have bad news for you. As of today, the confirmation we are receiving is that we have only five hours’ worth of fuel left”.

Additionally, the Honorable member said the current fuel left will not last for more than two days. He added “If you look at the heavy fuel oil and diesel fuel, we don’t have enough to last two days. So, in two days’ time, we are likely to run out of fuel.”

He also revealed that Ghana currently has not ordered any fuel. Besides it takes four weeks for the fuel if ordered to arrive and an additional four weeks for treatment.

Painting a clearer picture, the MP further noted “Even if you order fuel, it is going to take 8 weeks, so we are in for real trouble.
