EOCO To Release Shatta Wale After 10m Bail
Dancehall superstar Shatta Wale is set to be released on a GH₵10 million bail after his detention by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).

Importantly, the arrest is in connection with a high-profile investigation into a yellow Lamborghini Urus.
His management team, led by Samuel Atuobi Baah, promptly confirmed the bail. Consequently, the legal team is now working diligently to meet the court’s conditions. They include providing two sureties, by Thursday, August 21, 2025.
The artist, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., voluntarily presented himself to EOCO on Wednesday, August 20. He was accompanied by his lawyer, Cephas Biyuo, to assist with the ongoing inquiries. According to official sources, the investigation specifically focuses on the tax obligations of the luxury vehicle. Additionaly, other broader operations of Shatta Wale’s company are in question.
Management Urges Calm Amid Investigation
Sammy Flex, a member of his team, first broke the news of the detention via a Facebook post. Subsequently, Manager Samuel Atuobi Baah assured fans of their full cooperation with authorities. “We urge the SM Family and all well-wishers to remain calm and avoid any speculation,” stated Mr. Baah. “Furthermore, we have the utmost confidence in the judicial process.”

The Source of the Seized Lamborghini
This development follows EOCO’s earlier seizure of a 2019 Lamborghini Urus from Shatta Wale’s Trassaco Valley residence. In a detailed statement signed by its Acting Executive Director, Raymond Archer, EOCO revealed that the operation was executed in June. The action was based on a 2023 request from the US Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Department of Justice.
Critically, the agency explained that the vehicle has direct links to the criminal proceeds of Nana Kwabena Amuah. Amuah is currently serving an 86-month prison sentence in the United States for serious financial crimes. “The car was seized from Charles Nii Armah, aka Shatta Wale… The vehicle is currently in EOCO’s possession,” the statement confirmes.
Ongoing Investigations and Future Inquiries
Additionally, EOCO disclosed that Shatta Wale had pleaded with officers to keep the seizure private. He reportedly expressed concern that publicity could severely damage his brand. EOCO expects The FBI and the Justice Department to formally request the vehicle’s return to the U.S. This request is part of a $4.7 million restitution order against the convicted Amuah.
Finally, EOCO indicated that the investigations are ongoing. As a result, both Shatta Wale and a former senior officer of the National Signal Bureau remain persons of interest. Therefore, the agency may invite them for further questioning as the case progresses
