Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has announced an emergency shutdown of the Kpong Treatment Plant on Friday, July 4, 2025, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, affecting water supply to several communities in northeastern Accra.
The interruption will impact areas including Dodowa, Madina, Adenta, East Legon, Ashongman, and surrounding neighborhoods. GWCL has urged residents and businesses in these areas to store sufficient water ahead of the scheduled repairs to minimize inconvenience.
The utility company assured customers that supply will resume immediately after the repair works are completed. Essential service providers, such as hospitals and schools, have been advised to contact GWCL’s toll-free lines or WhatsApp numbers in case of emergencies. The shutdown is necessary to address urgent maintenance needs at the Kpong plant, a critical facility supplying water to the Greater Accra Region.
GWCL expressed regret for the disruption and thanked customers for their patience and cooperation. The company emphasized its commitment to restoring normalcy as swiftly as possible. Residents are encouraged to stay updated through GWCL’s official communication channels for further announcements.
