The Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) has condemned the recent disruption of operations at the National Assay Centre, asserting that the gold bars involved belong to the Bank of Ghana (BoG).
The incident, characterized as “unlawful,” was reportedly led by Joseph Yammin, the National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who attempted to seize bullion bars during their assay process.
PMMC emphasized that such actions could severely damage Ghana’s international reputation and undermine its mining sector’s integrity.
The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has expressed strong disapproval regarding the disruption of operations at the National Assay Centre, emphasizing that the gold bars involved are owned by the bank.
In response to the incident led by Joseph Yammin of the NDC, which aimed to seize the bullion bars, the BoG reiterated its commitment to safeguarding its assets and maintaining operational integrity.
The bank’s reaction underscores concerns over potential threats to Ghana’s mining sector and international reputation due to such unlawful actions.
