Family of Daddy Lumba have had their say on the controversy. Friends and family of both women have also expressed their feelings about the matter. Many have done so through social media. While others have also done so through radio and TV stations

Lets delve deeper into the controversy:

Perhaps, one person who could have ended this is Daddy Lumba. But it appears he has rather stirred it more. He stirred it more when he was alive, and even further with his death.

Akosua Serwaa – Recognized Wedded Wife

Family members and close associates confirm that Daddy Lumba customarily married her in Ghana many years ago and later wedded her officially in Germany.

Family and friends confirm that Lumba had four children with Akosua Serwaa. They all live in Germany.

Many people also credit her with significantly impacting the Legend’s career. Akosua Serwaa’s efforts and support made possible Daddy Lumba’s first album, “y33 y3 aka akwantoum.”

Friends claim she contributed immensely to Lumba’s immigration status, which inevitably paved the way for his success in music.

It is therefore not strange that Kennedy Agyapong, also as Kenpong, a longtime associate of Daddy Lumba was the one who picked Akosua from the airport and accompanied her to the home of her “husband”.

During the difficult times of the musician, people speculated that his “wife” Akosua Serwaa had poisoned him. This rumor thrived for so many years. The rumor was cemented further when the late legend released a song in 2021 titled “YÉ› nea wo ho bÉ›tÉ” wo, with part of the lyrics saying “YÉ›hyɛɛ da maame aduro sÉ› mennom nwu, m’anwu oo – na ano?

It was in Lumba’s final years that he went on stage to say “Akosua Serwaa would never do that”,

Priscilla Ofori (Odo Broni)

Friends and family of Lumba have disclosed that Odo Broni came into the scene when Daddy got seriously sick. Coming in as a nurse, her responsibility was to take care of Lumba. According to one of Lumba’s sister’s his reluctance to let go off the younger lady (Odo Broni) brought huge strife between herself, Lumba and his wife Akosua back in Germany.

It is no secret that the musician favored Odo Broni over Akosua Serwaa. Though not his official wife, both were seen together most of the time. Lumba more often referred to her as “my wife i am now living with”

“Dofo Pa Amma 3ntem”

Perhaps the icing on the cake for this controversial “love triangle” is this significant moment. While performing on his 60th birthday celebration, Lumba looked for Odo Broni, called her on stage and boldly declared “Dofo Pa Amma Ntem”, meaning, “my true love didn’t come early” during his 60th birthday celebration. This emotional moment drove Odo Broni to tears.

Public Opinion

Lovers of Akosua Serwaa believe Odo Broni snatched Lumba from her and that she knew Lumba had a wife. Meanwhile, supporters of Odo Broni also say Akosua Serwaa deserted Lumba during his critical moments and left him in the care of a total stranger. What makes it more complicated is that relatives claimed Akosua was still sending Lumba expensive medication from Germany to treat his spinal problem.

At this point, it will be difficult for both women to digest the news surrounding the choices they both made. Akosua who toiled with Lumba in Germany for decades, assisting him with his immigration status and building an enviable career in music. This enabled him to gain legendary status. She now finds herself taking blame and being accused of “abandoning” her husband.

Odo Broni will also find it difficult to digest why people call her a gold digger when she stood by Lumba during his health crisis. During Lumba’s lowest moments, Odo Broni supported him. For almost two decades, she cared for a full-grown man who was mostly confined to a wheelchair or a bed.

Others also argue that if Lumba were a poor man, Odo Broni would not stay with him. They argue further that irrespective of Odo Broni’s care towards Lumba, he was someone else’s husband.

Overall, much gratitude should be given to Madam Akosua Serwaa. So far, all arrangements concerning the funeral have been peaceful due to Akosua Serwaa’s tolerance. Being the wedded wife, she could have caused total anarchy the moment she arrived in Ghana. According to Ghanaian custom, she could have organized her own funeral rites and received visitors while ignoring Odo Broni.

Conclusion

Whichever way, it appears all parties made decisions that would benefit them. And each of them knew the consequences of their decisions

Akosua Serwaa did not want to move to Ghana to join Lumba perhaps because of her life and children in Germany.

Lumba also did not want to move back to Germany because he was more comfortable in Ghana concerning his health. And oh…he also found a younger “lover”.

Odo Broni also stuck with Lumba most likely because of his legendary status.
