Cyber Vetting Taskforce Intensifies Nationwide Crack Down on Crime

(Tarkwa, Western Region) – A specialized Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team from the Ghana Police Service has arrested ten individuals connected to a violent assault on two young women in Tarkwa.

The police continue their vigorous crack down on crime after a video of the incident circulated online.

The video shows the suspects physically harassing the women and using a razor blade to cut their scalps. Authorities have arrested Eric Donkor (alias Killer Block, 32), Yaw Gyimah (29), and Edmond Nartey (24), who actively participated in the abuse.

The police are currently searching for a fourth suspect, known as Tawiah or Awaga. The video shows him cutting one victim, and he remains at large.

The investigation led to the arrest of six additional individuals for their roles in aiding the assault: Steven Amu (24), Farouk Balas (18), Mensah Bernard (18), Adu Baggeo (23), Bismark Nyarko (30), Akwesi Poku George (18), and Oteng Alfred (23). The police administration confirms it is providing necessary support to the victims.

 

Nationwide Effort to Crack Down on Crime Expands to Tamale

Furthermore, the IGP’s Special Operations Taskforce demonstrated its expanding national reach by arresting 19 people in Tamale for drug peddling. Consequently, this separate operation underscores the police’s sustained effort to crack down on crime across the region. Subsequently, all suspects are now in custody for further investigation and profiling.

This targeted campaign aimed to dismantle criminal networks and clear the city of illegal drug activity. The all-male group of suspects includes five alleged drug peddlers, thirteen gang members, and one individual found with an unauthorized firearm and ammunition.

During the operation, the taskforce secured significant evidence, including:

  • Dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.

  • Sachets of substances suspected to be cocaine.

  • A single-barrel gun and 13 BB cartridges.

  • Motorbikes, mobile phones, and assorted electronic devices suspected to be stolen.

A police report confirmed, “All exhibits are catalogued and securely stored.” The authorities are holding all suspects at the Tamale Regional Police Headquarters for screening.
