At Least 67 Nigerians Have Died From Food Distribution Stampede

More than 67 people have died in different locations in Nigeria due to a stampede. 35 children died on Wednesday at a food distribution funfair in Oyo state. This happened at a school in Basorun in that state. The main cause of this death is however unclear to authorities An additional 32 people also died at two separate stampedes in Anambra and Abuja. Secondary Schools May Not Re-Open Due To Lack Of Funds

The Ministry of Education has received an urgent petition from the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) for release of funds. The secondary schools are set to re open on January3 2025. However, the association has stated that there are no funds to operate second cycle schools.
