More than 67 people have died in different locations in Nigeria due to a stampede.
35 children died on Wednesday at a food distribution funfair in Oyo state. This happened at a school in Basorun in that state. The main cause of this death is however unclear to authorities
An additional 32 people also died at two separate stampedes in Anambra and Abuja.
This brings the death toll to a total number of 67 many of whom are women and children.
22 of the death that occurred in Anambra happened as a result of a food distribution by a philanthropist.
In Abuja, 10 other died due to a similar food distribution process at a local church.
The organizers of the holiday funfair have been arrested.
Bayo Lawal, the Oyo state deputy governor after visiting victims at the hospital said “We are not exonerating anybody who’s connected with this organization of the event”
