The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to convene a high-level meeting with all presidential aspirants ahead of the party’s upcoming primaries.

In a statement dated June 24, 2025, the party’s National Steering Committee resolved to invite declared candidates to engage with the Steering Committee and the National Council of Elders on July 3, 2025. The meeting aims to foster unity and discuss critical issues ahead of the elections. Additionally, the NPP issued a stern warning against unauthorized caucuses or associations holding meetings with aspirants, emphasizing compliance with party regulations.

In a significant disciplinary move, the NPP referred its Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, to the National Disciplinary Committee for violating party directives. The party accused him of making unguarded public comments, which could undermine cohesion. This action underscores the NPP’s commitment to enforcing discipline and maintaining order as it prepares for a competitive internal election season.

The statement, signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, reiterated the importance of party unity and adherence to constitutional obligations. The NPP urged members to publicly support its decisions and avoid actions that could destabilize the party. With the 2024 general elections approaching, the NPP’s measures reflect a strategic effort to streamline internal processes and present a united front in the race to retain power.
