Operation Based on Intelligence Leads to Major Discovery

In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Oti Regional Police Command in Dambai has intercepted a truck carrying a substantial quantity of suspected narcotics.

The operation, conducted on 10th February 2026, highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat illegal drug trade in the region.

Acting on intelligence, police officers stopped and searched a DAF Long Trailer with registration number GW 1943-09.

At first glance, the truck appeared empty. However, upon closer inspection, officers discovered that the vehicle had been structurally altered to conceal illegal goods.

Specifically, six metal plates were found sealing secret compartments beneath the trailer.

Secret Compartments Exposed During Search

Furthermore, the compartments were opened in the presence of the suspect, 40-year-old Amidu Jubril.

Inside, police uncovered four thousand parcels of compressed dried leaves wrapped in yellow masking tape. The substance is suspected to be narcotics and has since been retained as evidence.

Suspect in Custody as Investigations Continue

In addition, the truck has been impounded, and the suspect is currently in police custody. Authorities confirm that he is assisting with ongoing investigations.

The police have assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure a thorough inquiry into the matter.

Moreover, the Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to fighting drug trafficking and related crimes.

In a statement released to the media, the command emphasized that such operations demonstrate their resolve to protect communities from the harmful effects of illicit drugs.
