Rescue Efforts Continue After Devastating Hong Kong Housing Complex Fire
A massive fire has killed at least 55 people in Hong Kong.

Additionally, hundreds more residents remain missing. Firefighters are still battling the last of the flames.
The inferno engulfed a public housing complex in the Tai Po district. Specifically, it tore through seven of eight high-rise tower blocks. Officials now hope to fully extinguish it by this evening.

This Hong Kong housing complex fire displaced thousands of people. Consequently, authorities are providing emergency support. The government will offer 1,800 housing units to displaced families.

Furthermore, Chief Executive John Lee announced immediate cash relief. Each affected household will receive HK$10,000. A larger HK$300 million assistance fund is also being established.

Meanwhile, police have arrested three construction company executives. They face manslaughter charges following the Hong Kong housing complex fire. Investigators suspect renovation materials accelerated the blaze.

In response, the administration has canceled all upcoming celebration activities. Similarly, election campaign events are suspended. A formal request for aid from Beijing is also in preparation.
Tragically, survivors expressed their profound grief and loss. One resident stated,
“I even feel like dying.”
