GBINTIRI, North East Region – The North East Regional Police Command has officially commenced a full-scale investigation into a violent, armed attack that resulted in the tragic murder of a Ghana Immigration Service officer. Consequently, authorities have launched a widespread manhunt for the unidentified gunmen responsible for this heinous crime.
According to an official press release from the Regional Police Headquarters, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, October 3rd, 2025. Specifically, at about 1:00 a.m., the Police received urgent information about an attack on two Immigration Service officers who were on duty at the Gbintiri Inland check point.
A Tragic Outcome and Swift Response
During the attack, both officers sustained serious gunshot wounds. Tragically, one of the officers succumbed to their injuries, and medical professionals pronounced the officer dead. Meanwhile, first responders rushed the other officer to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention.
Furthermore, the armed assailants fled the scene with a motorbike and a bag belonging to the officers.
