The 50 men who raped Ms Pelicot were also trialed with him. They were all found guilty on at least one charge and also faced prison sentences.

Police could not even account for an additional 21 men who were seen in different videos on Domique’s laptop in a similar sexual misconduct but unrelated to his wife’s own

The victim, Ms Pelicot after the case said it was a “very difficult ordeal”. She however affirmed that she “never regretted” her decision to make the trial public.

She had been married to her husband for 50 years until she finally divorced him.

Out of the 50 men who engaged in the heinous act with Dominique, 46 were found guilty of rape. Two were found guilty of attempted rape and the other two found guilty of sexual assault.

Almost all the men agued that they were not aware Ms Pelicot was unconscious hence did not know it was rape.

However, video footage as evidence that was played in the court showed sounds of the victim snoring indicative of one in deep sleep.
