The University of Ghana (UG) has categorically denied social media rumors that it collected more than GH₵11 million in graduation fees without giving graduates medallions and scroll holders.
The allegations were deemed “misleading and inaccurate” by the University, which urged the public to rely on official communications for factual information in a statement released Monday by the Public Affairs Directorate.
University of Ghana stated that, rather than GHS11 million as reported on social media, the total amount collected from 15,776 expected graduates was GH₵7,888,000, computed at GH₵500 per graduand.
The University urged the public to disregard what it termed misleading and inaccurate.
In further clarification, U.G stated that all items were provided to graduating students except for the medallions and scroll holders.
In a statement from the Public Affairs Directorate, signed by Dr. Ameyaw-Buronyah, the university assured all stakeholders of its dedication and commitment to maintaining the highest standards in all its operations.
