The Public Relations Department at the University of Media, Arts, and Communication (UniMAC-IJ) has embarked on a new era of leadership with the appointment of Dr. Ike Tandoh as its new Head of Department (HOD). He succeeds Dr. Albert Anani-Bossman, who served in the position with distinction.

In his inaugural meeting with full-time and adjunct lecturers at the university’s Council Chamber, Dr. Tandoh emphasised the importance of teamwork, positivity, and collaboration in driving the department and the university forward.

Dr. Tandoh took a moment to express deep gratitude to Dr. Mavis Essandoh, a stalwart in the department who has served as HOD and Dean of the Faculty on multiple occasions. He praised her exceptional leadership and dedication, which laid a strong foundation for the department’s success.
He also extended appreciation to the current Dean of the Faculty, Rev. Yaw Odame Gyau, for his continuous support and guidance.
The new head acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing HOD, Dr. Albert Anani-Bossman, under whose leadership the department expanded its programs, forged industry partnerships, and maintained high academic standards. Dr. Albert Anani-Bossman- Outgoing HOD
Dr. Albert Bossman, the outgoing Head of the PR Department, delivered a comprehensive report highlighting the department’s achievements under his leadership, including impactful collaborations with other universities on research seminars and the landmark Measurement and Evaluation Seminar, which brought together industry practitioners, executives from the AMEC (International Association for The Measurement and Evaluation of Communication), and academic experts to bridge theory and practice. He also spotlighted the department’s partnership with Stratcomm Africa as part of their 30th-anniversary celebrations, which included student-focused initiatives like mentorship sessions, networking opportunities, and hands-on industry engagement.
Dr. Noel Nutsugah- Programme Coordinator
Dr. Noel Nutsugah, the Program Coordinator, delivered an exciting announcement during the meeting, revealing that the department is birthing new and innovative programs, including Strategic Communications and Brand Management, as well as Digital Marketing. He emphasized that these cutting-edge offerings were designed to align with industry demands and technological advancements, ensuring graduates remain competitive in the evolving media landscape. His announcement was met with enthusiastic applause, as lecturers recognized the opportunities these new specialization would create for both students and the department’s growth.
