On Thursday, February 13, 2025, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga spoke on the floor of Parliament, calling the raid of Ken Ofori Attah’s residence regretful and unfortunate and stating that all essential measures had been taken to ensure that it wouldn’t happen again.

Following a raid on his private property on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, by men dressed in military and police uniforms, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta received an apology from the majority in Parliament.

Media sources state that the operation involved approximately 12 people, five of whom were dressed in military uniforms, one of whom was dressed in a police outfit, and the remaining individuals dressed in civilian clothes.

While Ofori-Atta was abroad, the raid on his home in Cantonments, Accra, occurred. At the moment, his wife and other relatives were there.

According to Ayariga, the National Security Coordinator’s office officer Richard Jakpa was in charge of the operation, according to the results of the investigation.

He emphasized that the Mahama administration is still dedicated to protecting each and every citizen’s rights and freedoms.

The Majority leader Mahama Ayariga said, “H.E. President John Dramani Mahama remains committed to ensuring that the rights and liberties of every individual are respected. We have received assurances from the office of the National Security Coordinator that the incident was not intended to happen,”.

“That occurrence is most regrettable and unfortunate, and he [Jakpa] wants to give this house his words and assurances that a thing like that should never happen again,” he added.
