Ghana Police Arrest Suspect in Murder of Immigration Officer

The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested Bright Aweh in connection with the murder of Stephen King Amoah, an Immigration Officer who went missing on July 3, 2025.

Amoah’s severely burnt body was discovered on July 9 in a gutter near GBC Satellite, opposite Comet Estate, Accra. Relatives identified the body at the Police Hospital morgue, confirming it as the deceased, who had last been seen leaving his Ashongman Estate residence after receiving a WhatsApp message from Aweh requesting a meeting to settle a financial matter.

Investigations revealed that Aweh had given Amoah GHS 500,000 in cash, instructing him to pay off debts and hold the remainder. However, Aweh provided conflicting statements about the source of the funds and could not account for his actions convincingly. The Police have condemned the crime and are working to uncover the full circumstances behind the murder, urging the public to come forward with any relevant information.

The case has drawn significant attention, highlighting concerns over violent crimes in the region. The Police have assured the public of their commitment to justice, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in solving such cases. Suspect Bright Aweh remains in custody as the investigation continues.
