Food Smuggling Leads to GES Interdicting Piina SHS Headmaster.
Following a decision from the Director-General of the Service, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has declared that Adams Mahama Issahaku, the headmaster of Piina Senior High School in the Upper West Region, has been placed under interdiction.
The action, which takes effect immediately, is related to an ongoing inquiry into claims that food items on Mr. Issahaku’s official pick-up truck were discovered on his Thursday, February 6, 2025, trip from Piina SHS to Wa.
The interdiction is a procedural process 0and does not amount to a presumption of guilt, according to a letter dated February 7 that was signed by Razak Z. Abdul-Korah, Regional Director of GES for the Upper West Region.
The GES assured all concerned parties that the investigation would be thorough and that Mr. Issahaku would be notified of the findings and any subsequent decisions.
In accordance with the mandate, Mr. Issahaku has been instructed to transfer management of the school and its associated property to the Upper West Regional Director of Education. He has also been instructed to participate completely with the investigation by abstaining from any activities that might compromise it and keeping himself accessible when required.
Additionally, the letter reminded the public of GES’s commitment to upholding transparency and accountability in the education sector.
It pleaded with Mr. Issahaku and other relevant parties to adhere to the directives and ensure the investigation runs well.
