Religious leader Daniel Yaw Donkor has stirred controversy with a shocking prophecy about Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale, claiming he foresaw the musician’s death.
In a video that has since gone viral, Donkor stated that he tried contacting Shatta Wale through social media but failed, forcing him to publicly declare the prophecy. He claimed to have had a vision of seven armed men attempting to shoot the artist.
Despite expressing admiration for Shatta Wale, Donkor insisted on delivering the grim message, adding that some of his past prophecies—including one in Bangladesh—had come true. However, his credibility was questioned after he mistakenly referred to Bangladesh as part of India, despite it being an independent country. “If God had accurately revealed to you that seven men attacked Shatta Wale in a vision, is it not strange that the revelation couldn’t separate Bangladesh from India”?, one commentator quizzed.
The prophecy has sparked mixed reactions online, with some followers expressing concern while others dismissed it as sensationalism. Donkor’s claim about Bangladesh being in India further fueled skepticism, as the two nations are separate sovereign states, with Bangladesh bordering India to the north, west, and east. Critics argue that such geographical errors undermine his reliability as a prophet.
Meanwhile, Shatta Wale, known for his outspoken nature, has yet to publicly respond to the prophecy. The musician has faced threats and controversies in the past, including a 2021 incident where he faked an attack by unknown assailants as a result of another “fake prophecy”.
This is not the first time a Ghanaian celebrity has been the subject of a death prophecy. In 2021, evangelist Nigel Gaisie predicted the death of actor John Dumelo, which never materialized, leading to public backlash. While some Ghanaians take such prophecies seriously, others view them as fear-mongering or attention-seeking tactics.
As debates rage over the legitimacy of Donkor’s vision, many are urging caution, emphasizing the need for responsible prophecy in a country where religious pronouncements often influence public sentiment. Whether this prediction holds any truth or fades as another controversial claim remains to be seen.
