The NPP has sacked numerous members of the party in the Agona West Constituency.
Following the historic loss in the December 7th general elections, the political party is having an introspective reflection on some of the major causes that led to the party’s abysmal performance.
Months prior to the general election, MP for the Agona West Constituency decided to part ways with the party and her representation in parliament. She decided to run as an independent candidate. This resulted in her seat being declared vacant. Her position caused a lot of confusion in the party and especially in parliament.
The MP’s decision to leave the party and run as an independent candidate created divisions in the party. Particularly, the Agona West Constituency was not spared the divisions that resulted from the MP’s decision to leave the party.
Therefore, the party’s decision to dismiss the incumbent MP and her 279 supporters may likely be due to her decision to compete as an independent candidate.
