The Volta Regional Coordinating Council has released a statement cautioning its inhabitants on the usage of the Tordze River.
The statement explained that a Truck carrying Agrochemicals was involved in an accident that caused a spillage of the chemicals into the River on Tuesday February 18th 2025.
Hence, the Council is cautioning residents in that district to desist from using water in the river for fishing, drinking, irrigating or washing.
Residents have been also been advised to abstain from using the river for any such purposes until an assessment of the levels of contamination are deemed safe for any human activity.
