The parliamentary vetting  process of vetting Ministerial appointees was truncated half way late last night on Thursday, 30th January, 2025.

The process was truncated after 10 pm before the vetting of Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa Ministers-designate for Health and Foreign Affairs, respectively.

Chaos erupted between the Minority and Majority vetting committee members after it was proposed by the Minority that the process continue the next day, Friday 31st January 2025. This was proposed due to the fact that the process had traveled deep into the night but other appointees waited to be vetted.

The majority insisted on continuing the process and blamed Anfenyo Markin for causing delays by asking numerous questions to nominees.

The Minority members revealed that the initial agreement between both members was to vet only three nominees for the day. Later another nominee was added making four. The Minority said they noticed however that the number had been six.

Leader of the Minority Alexander Afenyo Markin said “Today, we agreed to do three. The committee is on a partisan track. Indeed, she [Clerk to Committee] is a typical NDC. She agrees with them and then informs people to come,”

The disagreement continued leading to the destruction of microphones and tables.

The vetting process resumed after about 30 minutes but was moved to the Speaker’s Conference Room due to the damaged microphones and tables.
