Canada’s PM Justin Trudeau Has Resigned

Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau today has announced his resignation.

He indicated that he will resign once a new leader by the party is appointed.

In the interim, Canada’s parliament will be suspended until March 24 in anticipation of a new leader.

Trudeau has served as PM for nine years and leader of the Liberal Party for 11 years.

His government has faced a lot of pressure as a result of  immigration set backs to the tariff threat by Donald Trump.

Trudeau said “Every morning I’ve woken up as prime minister, I have been inspired by the resilience, generosity and the determination of Canadians,” he told journalists on Monday. “I have fought for this country, for you.”

Trudeau’s government also faced a lot of criticisms even from his own party. Some members of his party resigned whiles more threatened to do same. Ordinary Canadians pressured him to resign.

Some Canadians rejoiced to the news of his resignation. The coming days will reveal who becomes the next leader of Canada.
