The aftermath of the burnt Kantamanto market has brought a lot of revelation.
The Gbese Ga Traditional council has told the press of its intention to re-possess lands they have lost to private individuals or unauthorized persons.
The Gbese principal chief through the press conference mentioned that the Stool has lost a lot of lands to private developers, squatters or the government. The loss he said has not benefited the Gbese stool in any way.
He opined that under his leadership, he will make sure most of these lands are reclaimed and given to the Stool.
The repossession is to begin with the Kantamanto land. The chief earlier warned traders not to mount unauthorized structures on the land.
Gbese principal chief went further to itemize lands in the capital that rightly belonged to them.
He mentioned clearly the boundaries of the Gbese lands. The lands are apparently called railways.
The chief bemoaned most of the sold Ga properties from Accra Central, Circle, Abelemkpe, Achimota, Dome, Amasaman and Papasi.
He showed documents of the lands that originally belonged to Gbese stool to the press. He also hinted on repossessing Agbogbolshie market and re-developing same.
The chief warned encroachers to stay away from their property. He also challenged any other stool in the Ga Traditional council who believe they’re the right owners of the railway lands to produce their documents.
Nii Ayi Bonte II sympathized with traders at Kantamanto who had lost their investments through the fire and urged them to collaborate with the Gbese Stool to rebuild the Kantamanto market.
