If you stick with me for a minute, you’ll finding answers to the following:
1. The actual reason why Abu Trica has simultaneous sued the FBI, Attorney-General, Minister for Interior, EOCO & NACOC.
2. Whether it was a good or bad move for Abu Trica to sue them. Will this suit worsen his case or actually help him.
A. Why Abu Trica is suing FBI, EOCO, Minister of Interior etc
Abu Trica was arrested on 11 December 2025 for cyber-fraud. And this current lawsuit is in relation the arrest, detention, interrogation and the entire investigation. He makes 4 main allegations in this law suit:
a. On the day of his arrest, 15 armed men entered his Airport Residential apartment and handcuffed, restrained and denied him water, food & rest.
b. While in custody, he was subjected to coercive interrogation by 3 FBI agents.
c.Abu Trica claims the FBI had no independent law-enforcement powers under Ghanaian law and pressured him to sign documents he could not read
d.He also alleges that EOCO’s public description of him as a “notorious cyber-criminal” prior to any conviction breached his constitutional rights.
Abu Trica is seeking 4 mains things from the court:
i. GH₵10 million in damages,
ii. an order excluding evidence obtained through unlawful interrogation or searches
iii. a temporary bar on extraditionand
iv. a restraint on FBI investigative or interrogation activities in Ghana relating to him.
B. Was it a good or bad move for Abu Trica to bring this lawsuit?
First, even before this suit is decided, it could actually reframe public narrative. Instead of being only an accused cyber fraud suspect, he becomes a rights-claimant fighting state abuse of power.
Second, this law suit can effectively delay extradition, deportation, and evidence-sharing while these constitutional issues are pending in court.
Third, this suit can create an evidentiary obstacle. If even some parts of the arrest, interrogation, or search is later declared unconstitutional, that finding can be weaponised to challenge the admissibility of evidence in Ghanaian prosecutions & extradition proceedings.
My honest opinion is that not filing this suit would have been a missed opportunity for Abu Trica. Kudos to his lawyers.

The only downside, in my opinion, is that litigations like this often makes both domestic agencies and U.S. prosecutors more hostile. Any hope of quiet cooperation or negotiated surrender diminishes
