In fact, this year’s WASSCE performance is the poorest since 2021. Although candidate registration rose slightly to 461,736, outcomes in three of the four core subjects fell below 2021 levels.

Mathematics Records Sharpest Decline

Notably, Mathematics experienced the most severe drop in the  WASSCE Examination. Only 48.73% of candidates achieved grades A1 to C6 in 2025—an 18.13-point fall from 2024. Consequently, this result stands as the lowest in the four-year period, with 26.77% of candidates receiving grade F9.

Social Studies and Integrated Science Follow Downward Trend

Similarly, Social Studies performance fell sharply to 55.82%, a 15.71-point decrease from 2024. As a result, 27.5% of candidates failed the subject. Integrated Science also declined to 57.74%, cementing 2025 as the weakest year for WASSCE core subjects performance in this discipline since 2021.

English Language Remains Relatively Stable

However, English Language provided a slight contrast in WASSCE performance. Results remained stable at 69%, staying above 2021 levels.

Nevertheless, the subject has not regained its 2023 peak of 73.11%, indicating an overall dip from recent highs.

WAEC Warns Against Result Fraud

Furthermore, WAEC has cautioned the public about fraudsters claiming to alter results for a fee. Therefore, they emphasize that all results are secured and can only be verified through the Council’s official system.
